The Northern Powergrid Foundation - Energy Resilience Grant Programme
The Northern Powergrid Foundation is passionate about supporting the communities where we live and work. The Foundation is committed to funding projects that support energy resilience initiatives and helps those located in our local communities who are most affected by changes in the economy, environment and society because of the shifting energy landscape.
The Northern Powergrid Foundation is offering grants of up to £20,000 to help community organisations strengthen their energy resilience.
Projects can include energy generation and backup solutions and may also include small energy efficiency improvements, as long as these support a wider community resilience plan.
For this round, we’re especially keen to support projects that help communities stay open, providing a safe and supported space to the wider community during emergencies such as storms or long-duration power cuts.
Examples of projects include:
Energy resilience measures
- Installing solar panels with battery storage
- Installing backup generators
- Creating safe, reliable community hubs that can stay open during power cuts or severe weather
- Installing hook-up points for emergency use
Small Energy efficiency improvements (as a small part of a wider resilience project)
- Draughtproofing and minor insulation
- LED lighting
- Efficient heating controls
